This is a very exciting time for all members of ISWA! Thank you for electing me as President of ISWA together with a team of excellent and dedicated Executive Committee members. Today, the social work profession is being recognised by public and private sectors as a critical group in tackling the social problems of the world. However, there is a need for social workers to advocate for ourselves, as the journey has only just begun.

The two most outstanding challenges that ISWA members have to address are:

1. To identify and bring into the individuals/organisations that are involved in social work or providing social services of any type, as possible
2. To practice high standards of professionalism in our work, so that we stand apart from other helping professionals

I would like to encourage you to submit your registration forms as this process is a milestone in our development.
